Getting Started with HyperEVM Trading (2026)

Complete guide to bridging assets, setting up wallets, and getting HYPE tokens for trading on Hyperliquid's EVM layer.

What is HyperEVM?

HyperEVM is the EVM-compatible layer of Hyperliquid , a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built for trading. Think of it as Ethereum-like smart contracts with the speed and efficiency of Hyperliquid’s infrastructure.

Prerequisites

Before you start:

  1. A compatible wallet: MetaMask, Rabby, or Frame
  2. Assets to bridge: ETH, USDC, or other supported tokens on Ethereum or BSC
  3. Some ETH or BNB: For gas on the source chain during bridging

Step 1: Add HyperEVM to Your Wallet

MetaMask

  1. Open MetaMask
  2. Click the network dropdown (top center)
  3. Click “Add network”
  4. Click “Add a network manually”
  5. Enter these details:
Network Name: HyperEVM
RPC URL: https://rpc.hyperliquid.xyz/evm
Chain ID: 999 (HyperEVM testnet: 998)
Currency Symbol: HYPE
Block Explorer: https://explorer.hyperliquid.xyz
  1. Click “Save”

Rabby Wallet

Rabby may auto-detect HyperEVM. If not:

  1. Open Rabby
  2. Click “Add Custom Network”
  3. Enter the same RPC details as above
  4. Save

Step 2: Bridge Assets to HyperEVM

You need HYPE tokens for gas on HyperEVM. There are two main ways to get assets onto the chain:

The official bridge is the most straightforward method:

  1. Go to https://app.hyperliquid.xyz/bridge
  2. Connect your wallet (MetaMask/Rabby)
  3. Select source chain (Ethereum or BSC)
  4. Select asset to bridge (ETH, USDC, etc.)
  5. Enter amount
  6. Confirm the transaction
  7. Wait for confirmation (usually 10-30 minutes)

Note: You’ll receive the bridged asset on HyperEVM plus a small amount of HYPE for initial gas.

Option B: Bloom Bot In-Wallet Bridge (Privacy-focused)

If using Bloom Bot :

  1. Open Bloom EVM Bot in Telegram
  2. Select “Bridge” or “Transfer”
  3. Choose source chain
  4. Select HyperEVM as destination
  5. Enter amount and confirm

This uses Houdini Swap integration for added privacy but involves trusting Houdini’s smart contracts.

Option C: Centralized Exchanges

Some exchanges support direct HYPE withdrawals:

  1. Check if your exchange supports HYPE
  2. Withdraw to your HyperEVM wallet address
  3. Ensure you select the HyperEVM/HYPE network

⚠️ Warning: Sending to wrong network = lost funds. Always double-check.

Step 3: Verify Your Balance

After bridging:

  1. Open your wallet
  2. Switch to HyperEVM network
  3. Check your HYPE balance (should show automatically)
  4. Verify bridged assets appear

If assets don’t appear:

  1. Click “Import tokens” in MetaMask
  2. Enter the token contract address (find on explorer )
  3. Add the token

Step 4: Get Extra HYPE for Gas

HYPE is needed for every transaction. If you only bridged assets without HYPE:

From an Exchange

  1. Buy HYPE on a supporting exchange
  2. Withdraw to your HyperEVM address
  3. Select HyperEVM network for withdrawal

From a Friend

  1. Share your HyperEVM address (0x…)
  2. Ask them to send HYPE
  3. You only need $5-10 worth for many transactions

Step 5: Make Your First Trade

  1. Open Bloom EVM Bot
  2. Use referral code hypechain for 10% fee discount
  3. Select “HyperEVM” chain
  4. Create or connect wallet
  5. Fund with HYPE for gas
  6. Start with a small test trade ($5-10)

Manual Trading

  1. Go to a HyperEVM DEX (check Bloom Bot docs for supported exchanges)
  2. Connect your wallet
  3. Ensure you’re on HyperEVM network
  4. Swap small amount first to test

Understanding Gas on HyperEVM

What is HYPE Gas?

Every transaction on HyperEVM requires HYPE tokens as gas (transaction fees). This is similar to ETH on Ethereum or BNB on BSC.

Gas Costs

HyperEVM gas is generally cheaper than Ethereum but varies:

  • Simple transfer: ~0.001 HYPE
  • Token swap: ~0.005-0.01 HYPE
  • Complex contract interaction: ~0.01-0.05 HYPE

Monitoring Gas

  1. Check Hyperliquid Explorer for current gas prices
  2. Bloom Bot shows estimated gas before transactions
  3. Keep 1-2 HYPE reserved for gas

Security Best Practices

Wallet Security

✅ Do:

  • Use a hardware wallet if trading significant amounts
  • Enable 2FA on all exchange accounts
  • Store seed phrase offline in multiple locations
  • Use a dedicated trading wallet (not your main holdings)

❌ Don’t:

  • Share your seed phrase with anyone
  • Store seed phrase digitally (screenshots, cloud, email)
  • Use the same wallet for trading and long-term storage
  • Click links from unsolicited DMs

Trading Safety

✅ Do:

  • Start with small amounts ($10-20)
  • Verify contract addresses on explorer
  • Use slippage protection (1-2%)
  • Revoke token approvals after trading

❌ Don’t:

  • FOMO into tokens without research
  • Ignore gas costs on small trades
  • Trade more than you can afford to lose
  • Trust “guaranteed profit” schemes

Troubleshooting

“Insufficient HYPE for gas”

Solution: Bridge or receive more HYPE tokens. You need HYPE for every transaction.

“Transaction pending forever”

Solutions:

  1. Check gas price on explorer
  2. Try speeding up transaction in wallet
  3. Cancel and resubmit with higher gas

“Assets not showing in wallet”

Solutions:

  1. Add token contract address manually
  2. Ensure you’re on HyperEVM network
  3. Check transaction on explorer

“Bridge taking too long”

Normal: Bridges can take 10-30 minutes. Check:

  1. Transaction status on source chain
  2. Bridge interface for updates
  3. Hyperliquid Discord for known issues
